Family Gallery Explorations
These short, 30-minute gallery adventures are designed just for families. Each weekend’s theme includes plenty of hands-on activities. Recommended for families with children ages 5 and up.
July-August: Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays at 11:30 am.
September-June: Saturdays & Sundays at 11:30 am.
Weekend Story Times
Listen to stories and make related art projects. For children ages 3 to 6 with accompanying adult.
Pem Pals
This fun, interactive program with books, movement, music, art and hands-on activities is designed specifically for preschoolers and their caregivers. Meets select Wednesdays from 10:30am - 11:30 am. No reservations required.
Weekend Art Activities
Make art together inspired by the museum’s collection and special exhibitions. Every Saturday and Sunday, 1—3 pm. No reservations required.
Weekend Festivals: Atrium Alive
Free, fun-filled weekend events for all ages. Art activities, performing arts, workshops, artist demonstrations, tours, films, presentations and more. Some events might require reservations.
School Vacation Week
Programming for children and families held during Massachusetts public school vacations in February and April. Some events might require reservations.

After viewing Ansel Adams: At the Water's Edge and Natural Histories, Photographs by Barbara Bosworth, students explore art in a natural habitat, seeking inspiration from their surroundings at PEM and the great outdoors. Projects include digital photography collage and mapmaking.
Guest presenters include perennial favorites Curious Creatures (curiouscreatures.org) and more!

Art Majors - NEW!
Students delve into a program of art, design, architecture and visual studies. PEM's galleries serve as the ultimate backdrop for this in-depth study of the elements of art (line, form, space, color, value and texture). Students spend the week building a body of work that culminates in an online portfolio.
Daily guest artists include Alison Naturale (alisonnaturale.com) and a return visit by Nathaniel Furlong (studiofiftysix.com).
